MEET THE TEAM

At the Mark Lay Foundation we are lucky to be surrounded by kind, clever and supportive volunteers who all work on a volunteering basis. They are the heart of the charity and we couldn't do the work we do without them.

 
 
  Sally-Anne Warner - Chair of Trustees   Sally-Anne has run a local gymnastics club for 30+ years and she has also volunteered in various roles for gymnastics committees in the county and region. She met Mark & the Lays as her daughter is married to Thomas. Sally-Anne was honoured to be asked to be part of the Mark Lay Foundation and is privileged to stand as Chair of Trustees.

  Josephine Lay - Volunteer Executive   Josephine supports the charity as a volunteer. Her fundraising efforts have seen her raise funds for cancer charities and hospices over the past 5 years. In 2016 Jo ran from London to Brighton in aid of Macmillan and St Catherine’s hospice. Alongside her challenges she also organised an event which raised a staggering £25,000 for Macmillan. She has a finance background and has worked for a large tour operator since graduating from Bournemouth University in 2011.

Josephine Lay - Volunteer Executive

Josephine supports the charity as a volunteer. Her fundraising efforts have seen her raise funds for cancer charities and hospices over the past 5 years. In 2016 Jo ran from London to Brighton in aid of Macmillan and St Catherine’s hospice. Alongside her challenges she also organised an event which raised a staggering £25,000 for Macmillan. He has also been involved in organising large fundraising events, most recently a take over event in Arundel, raising huge awareness of Macmillan and funds for people living with cancer. 

  Nicky Shearwood - Trustee   Nicky Shearwood is a long standing friend of Mark and his family. She has a professional background in banking and now leads an NHS organisation with positivity through some very tough times. Nicky joined the Mark Lay Foundation with excitement and keenness to help other families.  She has a passion for people and their wellbeing and is looking forward to seeing other families be supported by the Mark Lay Foundation. She leads a team of 32 staff on a daily basis and is faced with many opportunities to help others walk through difficult times and to succeed personally.

Nicky Shearwood - Trustee

Nicky Shearwood is a long standing friend of Mark and his family. She has a professional background in banking and now leads an NHS organisation with positivity through some very tough times. Nicky joined the Mark Lay Foundation with excitement and keenness to help other families.  She has a passion for people and their wellbeing and is looking forward to seeing other families be supported by the Mark Lay Foundation. She leads a team of 32 staff on a daily basis and is faced with many opportunities to help others walk through difficult times and to succeed personally.

 
 
  Sharon Golightly - Treasuer    Sharon has a background in Human Resources and works with both commercial and not for profit organisations.  In addition to her professional experience she also has a real heart for charity work, particularly in providing crisis help to those in need, where she is a Chair of Trustees for the Easter Team.  She says "as someone who has been personally affected by cancer it is an honour to be part of a charity that will support families like the Lays in times when they most need it, by allowing them to share special times together."

  Sarah Maccrossen - Trustee   Sarah Maccrossen is from Crawley and is a very close friend to the Lay family. Sarah has worked for a large airline for over 15 years and manages a small team. She ran the London marathon for St Catherine's Hospice with Mark’s wife Tricia in 2012. Sarah is honoured to be part of the charity and hopes many families will benefit from the grant scheme. Family means everything to Sarah, as she is married with three lovely children.

  Dan Marsh - Trustee   Dan Marsh is a carpenter from Crawley who met Mark and the Lay family the day he moved in to the area back in 2006. Dan shared some wonderful memories over the years with Mark and being made trustee to the Mark Lay Foundation was a very proud moment for him. He is looking forward to pushing this wonderful charity forward and raising awareness and funds. Running his second marathon this April for the Mark Lay Foundation is a great challenge which he's looking forward to immensely.

Dan Marsh is a carpenter from Crawley who met Mark and the Lay family the day he moved in to the area back in 2006. Dan shared some wonderful memories over the years with Mark and being made trustee to the Mark Lay Foundation was a very proud moment for him. He is looking forward to pushing this wonderful charity forward and raising awareness and funds. Running his second marathon this April for the Mark Lay Foundation is a great challenge which he's looking forward to immensely.

 
 
  Chris Povey - Trustee   Chris became a trustee during the launch of the Mark Lay Foundation in 2017 after being honoured to be asked by Mark’s family. He says ‘Mark was my best friend so I obviously wanted to do anything I could to support the charity and keep Mark's name alive’. Chris has been a professional sales account manager since 1999, has coached kids football for several years and is married with two football mad sons.

  Adam Lay - Volunteer Fundraising Manager    Adam is a huge supporter of the foundation and is eager to lend a helping hand to people who want to organise events and raise funds for this great cause. ‘I am so proud that even at such a difficult time my brother and sister have shown the strength to turn there grief into something so positive. This is such a fitting way to continue Dad’s legacy!’

  Hannah Watson - Volunteer Social Media Manager     Hannah supports the team as Social Media manager. She is excited to watch the charity grow and to hold such a wonderful impact on so many families. She feels honoured to be part of Team Lay.

  Cheyenne Lay - Volunteer Fundraising Manager   Cheyenne has supported Team Lay in various events over the years and is also newly married to co-founder Thomas.
